Want a Relationship that Works? Be More Selfish

May 4th, 2008 by juleenyce

By Alan Stafford When were young, were taught to play nice and share. Selfishness is a vice, and consideration a virtue. We carry those beliefs with us into adulthood where they work well in everyday life. But, the situation is different when youre dating. Dating is all about finding someone who meets your requirements for a mate. Its not about molding yourself to fit your partners requirements. So, the best way to have long term success in your relationship? Be more selfish when dating. Most men and women aren’t nearly selfish enough when they are dating. That may sound backward to you because you try to be on your best behavior during a date. You try to make a good impression. You try to be considerate and selfless because you want the other person to like you. While this selflessness makes you a great date, it doesnt get you what you want. It doesnt get you a life partner who meets your definition of a good mate. Years later, youre unhappy. You really didnt choose a mate; you were chosen. Its all about him You make a big mistake when you set aside your feelings and cater totally to the other person desires so that he or she will like you. Thats bad for two reasons. First, its not fair to your date. He never gets to know you: your tastes, your preferences, and your personality. So how could he know if the two of you are really compatible? Express yourself. Let him know your preferences and your quirks. Give him the chance to bail if you dont fit his ideal for a partner. Dont show him just your good side in order to have a relationship. Br open, and be real. If hes the man for you, hell accept you and will want to please you. If hes not the man for you, better to find out now instead of after the wedding when you have a big mortgage and small kids. Its all about youYou’re also being unfair to yourself. By suppressing your desires and preferences, you are letting your partner set the terms of the relationship. That doesnt work long term. In fact, a major cause of divorces is because one or both spouses settled for the other in order to have a relationship and get married. Dont settle. Be selfish. This is your relationship, too. You have the right to choose anyone and reject anyone for any reason. You dont owe your dates anything except courtesy and kindness. You will owe your spouse a lifetime of love and commitment. The more selfish you are during the dating process-the choosier you are when selecting a life partner-the easier it will be to love and to cherish. Selfish in dating, but selfless in love If youre dating the right person, he or she will love you just as you are. There are plenty of prospects who will meet your requirements and needs. Prospects who fit your ideal of a life partner. But, youll never find them if you settle for something less than you want. Be up front from the beginning. Express yourself freely and openly. Its not phony, its not pretentious: its you being you. You can still be charming and polite. But, be prepared for a lot of dates to walk away. The fact that you werent right for them means that they werent right for you. Right?Openness and honesty in dating will also carry forward into openness and honesty in marriage. Knowing that you are right for each other before the wedding is the secret to a lifetime of wedded bliss as a couple. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Dr. Alan Stafford, Relationship Results CoachI help Singles and Couples build relationships that workwww.relationshipsuccessexperts.com Click here to ask Alan a question about your biggest relationship issuehttp://relationshipsuccessexperts.com/askalan.htm Get our free newsletter for relationship tips and advicehttp://relationshipsuccessexperts.com/subscribe.html 2005 Alan Stafford/Relationship Success Experts ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Article Source: http://EzineArticles.com/?expert=Alan_Stafford http://EzineArticles.com/?Want-a-Relationship-that-Works?-Be-More-Selfish&id=111665 loanshop pay day loan cash advance places around belleveiwfl fast closing investor loan bad credit loans unsecured

Winter Weddings

May 1st, 2008 by juleenyce

By Tonia Jordan Weve all heard that June is the month for weddings. When we think of weddings, often we automatically imagine warm weather, maybe a sandy beach, or even just warm rays of sunshine filtering down through puffy white clouds. We think of colorful flowers and spring-like colors, but what of winter weddings? Do they offer the same amount of creativity? Winter weddings hold their own unique beauty that many often overlook. Imagine, if you will, a crackling fireplace draped with holly or fresh greens from a pine or spruce tree. Winters are cozy and romantic, the perfect setting for a wedding. Not only will you find more availability of a space to hold the wedding and reception, freer schedules of caterers and photographers, but there is a world of possibility for winter weddings. For example, a landscape of drifts of powdery white snow make a beautiful backdrop for photographs. Replace the limo ride with a horse-drawn (or perhaps reindeer-drawn) sleigh for a unique and romantic first ride for the bride and groom. Warm colors like plum, cocoa or even a dark crimson are perfect for winter weddings. White is also a popular classic color for winter weddings. Possibilities for the brides wedding dress can include layers, heavier fabrics, and elegant, traditional styles like the Victorian style dresses. Cloaks or shawls are another way to keep warm and include an elegant style to the wedding dress. Decorations can include winter flowers like poinsettias, amaryllis or even mistletoe. Christmas lights can add a festive, yet elegant touch to the winter wedding decoration theme. Ice sculptures can provide another beautiful and elegant decoration to the winter wedding. Wedding favors can be decorated with winter symbols such as snowmen and snowflakes. Christmas-themed cookies, like gingerbread men, make a wonderful wedding favor, as well. One symbol that is connected with winter is perfect for weddings the snowflake. In nature, there is hardly any other object that showcases beauty and elegance as well as a snowflake, and it makes the perfect symbol to display for the winter wedding, combining uniqueness with classiness. There are many winter resorts that would provide an ideal location for the winter wedding and reception, as well as a winter honeymoon. When we think of winter, we often think of snuggling close with a loved one and the timeless and classic beauty of nature. Winter is the perfect time for a wedding, and there are a limitless array of possibilities for the winter wedding. Finding a Loan With Bad Credit

April 28th, 2008 by juleenyce

By [http://ezinearticles.com/?expert=Colin_McDougall]Colin McDougall No matter what your credit history is the simple fact is that at some point in your life you will need a loan. If you have a few black marks on your credit report and you are feeling that your bad credit will not enable you to qualify for loans, do not feel despair because there are banks that will lend to people in your situation. If you are seeking a bad credit personal loan there are a few things to consider. Since you are looking for a loan and you do have poor credit you should make sure that your loan will be reported to the major credit bureaus. It is important to check that your loan reports to the credit bureaus because this is your chance to improve your credit rating. I mention checking that your loan will be reported because many people will obtain something like a prepaid credit card thinking that this will help build their credit rating when this is actually not a loan, it is actually a debit card that carries a credit card logo. Finding a lender that offers bad credit personal loans is not a problem because there are millions of people in the same situation as you who have had credit problems in the past but now have a different situation possibly because of a better job and can now afford to make their loan payments but that bad credit rating is still haunting them. Bad credit personal loans are becoming more and more competitive because of the fact that we are living in turbulent times and people have run into credit problems. While this industry is quite competitive and you will find better deals than a few years ago, you will still pay a higher interest rate than somebody with good credit because bad credit personal loans are still viewed as high risk to financial institutions. Before you apply for a loan you will want to make sure that you can comfortably cover the payment, this is your opportunity to get your credit back on track - don’t turn this into a situation where your credit will end up worse than it was. It is important that you pull out your pay stubs and review all your living expenses such as rent, car (gas, maintenance, insurance, etc), food, utilities, clothing and all other living expenses and make sure that you are not going to over-extend yourself. It’s too easy to put yourself on the road to financial ruin, always remember to be responsible with your debt load and that banks will lend you money to the point where you will be dependant on loans of the rest of your life - after all that’s the banks business is to make money from loans. I personally have never taken out a loan to the maximum of what a bank will lend as it is almost always too much because they usually calculate your loan on before tax dollars and the fact is you need to live off of after tax dollars. Depression and Craziness

April 26th, 2008 by juleenyce

By Christina Sponias Many people have the impression that all we need to be happy are the proper conditions for a decent life - most of which can be bought with money. However, the truth is quite the opposite, because depression doesnt appear only in response to tragic events or horrible life conditions. This means that even if we lived in a perfect paradise, we still would have many depressed individuals in our society, although nothing really tragic had happened to them. It happens because the human being is already crazy from birth. Only a very tiny part of his conscience is at all developed, with human characteristics. The rest is in a wild and archaic state. So, we shouldnt only blame the world for our depressed society. The world the human being makes provokes his depression, because the human being is naturally absurd. This world is the result of his insanity: he only cares for his own desires, he doesnt respect nature and he doesnt care about some factors that have an extreme impact on his own happiness. However, terrible things happening far away from his own home still affect his life because they are happening in his environment, and are a threat against him too. Because he is absurd, though, he thinks he can live in a separate paradise, with everything to make him happy. Even in a place where so many people are suffering because they dont have the proper conditions of life, they are amidst wars, they are being abused, they are starving… If he was balanced and sensitive he would care about other peoples suffering as he cares about what happens to his own kids. He would also understand that he cant always be laughing. Nothing is easy, and many times he has to suffer so that he may save somebody, solve some problem, or avoid provocatory problems There are many things in daily life that demand from him the acceptance of sadness and suffering. However, the human being not only has a wrong conception of reality that causes him depression, and he is not only a victim of the absurd world he constructed - he also has innate psychological problems that impede his reaching psychical health and living happily. The mistakes he makes by following the inherited behaviour patterns of his psychological type push him around crazinesss labyrinth. There are two positions from which the human being sees reality: the introverted and extroverted types, which are polar opposites. A person can only be considered completely balanced and psychically healthy once theyve developed both positions and attitudes. If he has a penchant for one or the other, he is already unbalanced. He has four psychological functions (thoughts, feelings, sensations and intuitions) through which he understands his world and his own personal desires. However, only one of them is well developed, one is only half developed and the other two functions are not working, as if they were dead. They are in an archaic, childish condition. What happens because of this? He makes mistakes because he is either extroverted and doesnt pay attention to his own opinion about reality and how it affects him; or he is introverted, disconnected with objective reality and the material world. Then he makes more mistakes because he lives based only in his thoughts, without feelings and sensations, and only a bit of intuition to help with decisions. Or, his life is based on his feelings and constant desire for pleasure, without having any serious and objective thoughts in his mind and without understanding the existence of factors that cannot be justified by logic. So, he is pre-condemned to feel depressed some day. Someday hell have to face the consequences of the mistakes he made because he didnt examine reality and his own psychical structure completely. He only saw a part of reality, according to what his personality type let him examine. Or, he didnt understand what was happening inside himself and he didnt care to learn about it, because his psychological type despises the subjective judgment of reality. Despite their disuse, the functions he didnt develop are not really dead. They are alive, only submerged. Some day, according to what will happen with him, they will come to the consciousnesss surface, changing his behaviour drastically. When the archaic and childish content of his psychical sphere invades his consciousness, he starts losing control of his behaviour and doing strange and crazy things. In the end, he can only feel desperate and depressed seeing how many mistakes he made, and especially, how all these mistakes ruined his life.If these mistakes are too serious and he cant correct them, he cannot forgive himself. This leads to more severe mental illness and deeper depression, far beyond neurosis, that cannot be ever cured. The solution for our depressed society and each depressed individual has to be psychotherapy, without a doubt! When everybody is sensitive and sensible, we wont be as absurd as we are now… the world will change, for sure. Eventually, through learning, working and understanding, everybody will find their own happiness. During my studies, I came across Carl Jungs method of deciphering dreams, which helped me and urged me to continue his research into the unknown regions of our psychical sphere. I set my poetry aside and began to compile my findings. I sought to prove that Jung had discovered the proper method of interpretation of dreams. This exercise actually taught me many things, and I continued to pursue Jungs research into the analysis of dreams. The Top 10 Tips to Weight Loss, Health, and Fitness-Tip #3

Dont Kiss and Tell9. Stockpile Mental Ammo10. Seek and Shine Tip #3: Search and Destroy Once you make the commitment to transform your eating habits, go on a search and destroy mission in your own kitchen. Be a commando in your own cupboards, refrigerator, and freezer. Hunt down and remove all those foods that provide the emptiest calories and the poorest nutrition with the most fat, salt, sugar, and chemicalschips, cookies, boxed cakes, snacks, salted nuts, candy, pop, meats, frozen dinners, and over-sugared or over-salted frozen and canned goods and drinks. Whether you give the food to a neighbor, the food bank, or just throw it out, it is not being wasteful. Waste is when you fill your own body with foods that dont feed you, but deplete you. As you are cleaning house, think to yourself: Does this food feed me or deplete me? If it feeds you, keep it. If it depletes you, toss it. If you dont clean out your kitchen, sooner or later those very familiar, not-so-good-for-you foods will call to you. They will plead and beg until all your resolve dissolves, and they fly into your mouth before you have the chance to protest. That doesnt mean that you can never have those foods again. How ridiculous! But it does give you a bit more control if you are forced to go out of your house to get them. If they are right under your nose, it is next to impossible to will yourself not to eat them. You can trust yourself but dont tempt yourself. Jewelry Meaning in the Jewish Tradition

April 20th, 2008 by juleenyce

By David Weitzman Hamsa The Hamesh hand or Hamsa hand is a popular motif in Jewish jewelry. Arab cultures often refer to it as the Hand of Fatima, which represents the Hand of G-d. The Hamsa serves as an ancient talismanic way of averting the evil eye and providing a “protecting hand” or “Hand of God”. The Hamsa appears often in stylized form, as a hand with three fingers raised, and sometimes with two thumbs arranged symmetrically. The symbol is used in amulets, charms, jewelry, door entrances, cars, and other places to ward the evil eye. The Hamsa origin is believed to predate Islam. The symbol was previously used in Punic religion, where it was associated with Tanit. In Israel and in Jewish culture it is most commonly known as “Hamsa”, without any Islamic heritage connotations. Some sources link the significance of the five fingers to the five books of the Torah or to the five pillars of Islam. Star of David The symbol was used in Israel in Roman times, but it seems to have become associated with Judaism in particular only in later centuries. In the 17th century it became a popular practice to put the Star of David on the outside of synagogues, to identify them as Jewish houses of worship; however, it is not clear why this symbol was selected for this. Today, the Star of David is a universally recognized symbol of Jews. It appears on the flag of the state of Israel, and the Israeli equivalent of the Red Cross is known as the Magen David Adom. The name David in ancient Hebrew is made up of three letters “Dalet”, “Vav” and “Dalet”. The letter Dalet in ancient Hebrew is actually a triangle. King David used the six pointed star as his signature. The six-points symbolize that God rules over the universe and protects us from all six directions: North, South, East, West, Up and Down. King David used this symbol in the battlefield on his shield as an omen from God. Chai This Chai symbol is simply the Hebrew word Chai (literally meaning living), with the two Hebrew letters Chet and Yod attached to each other. The word refers to the Living G-d. Judaism is very focused on life, and the word Chai has great significance. There have been various mystical numerological speculations about the fact that according to the gematrian system, the letters of Chai add up to 18. Mezuzah Mezuzah is a small case affixed to the doorposts and gates of Jewish homes, synagogues, and businesses. The case generally features the Hebrew letter shin inscribed on it, which protects a piece of parchment scroll, on which is inscribed two passages from the Hebrew Bible: the Shema Israel and V’havta. Every time you pass through a door with a mezuzah on it, you touch the mezuzah and then kiss the fingers that touched it, expressing love and respect for G-d. Menorah The menorah, one of Judaism’s oldest symbols, is a seven-branched candelabrum or oil lamp. It has been said that the menorah is a symbol of the nation of Israel. The design for the seven-candle menorah is given in the Torah. The menorah in the Temple had straight branches, not rounded as is often depicted. While the menorah is traditionally used to burn candles, the Temple menorah originally burned olive oil. Related work can be found at: Jewish Jewelry Written by David Weitzman-Ka Gold Jewelry artist. Tips for Staging A More Professional Puppet Show

April 19th, 2008 by juleenyce

By Gwynn Torres Puppet shows on your own puppet stage are not only great fun for children, but are also rich with developmental benefits that include nurturing creativity, teaching pretend play and allowing positive reinforcement. Puppet shows are also dramatic performances, and some simple rules of thumb will help make performing easier and more rewarding for the children, as well as clearer to understand for their audiences. CHARACTER VOICES: Encourage each child to make up a character voice they think suits the puppet, or that they can perform well. Remember theres a great deal of flexibility and creative license in matching the role to the puppets on hand. The child can mimic a specific character from movies or TV that suits the part, such as the Cowardly Lion from “The Wizard of Oz,” Mickey Mouse’s high falsetto, and so on. WALKING: To simulate a puppet walking or running across the stage, encourage the children to take it beyond merely sliding the puppets across the stage. Rather, have them bounce the puppet slightly up and down to represent each step as they move from one position to the other. These small “step-size” bounces can create more of a sense of excitement on stage and also allow puppeteers some great opportunities for jumping from view and other fun, dramatic moves. BODY LANGUAGE: Show your children how to use pauses for dramatic or comedic effect, explaining to them how controlling the puppets body moves is as important to their acting as their enthusiasm on stage. A pause and a slow turn by the puppet to the audience can pull the viewers into the puppets exasperation or its thought process. Paul Winchell, the great puppeteer and ventriloquist, was a master of the slow turn. Think of all the other ventriloquists and puppeteers you’ve seen. Sometimes a hesitation plays as well as a spoken line. Slightly vibrating the puppet can communicate fear or can be used to create a double-take of surprise. Holding up the puppets arms can communicate glee. A puppets hand on its chin shows its thinking. Hunching the puppet forward can mean sadness. Help the children develop their own “body language” moves. Most animated cartoons use the same techniques. TALKING: With moving-mouth puppets, the natural tendency for most is to SHUT the puppets mouth in sync with each syllable. But humans do the opposite, and so should puppets. It may take practice, but try to teach each child to OPEN the puppet’s mouth with every syllable. Sid worked with the Muppet puppeteers once, and thats the first thing they taught him. GENDER NOTE: In adapting our collection of Aesops Fables scripts, we’ve referred to the animal characters in the neuter “it,” because we don’t know if a boy or girl is ultimately going to play the part. (Aesop seemed to assume all animals were male.) When you find a script to adapt, you may have to switch pronouns, too. But the children will usually point that out right away. Dont let the gender of the original material keep you from performing a script you think works well with your puppet cast. Puppets arent, by construction, as fluid and flexible in communicating the emotions as humans are. As humans, we can roll our eyes, frown, smile and show how we feel in the subtle ways. If a child is having difficulty making the puppet communicate a certain emotion, have him stand in front of a mirror and try to express the emotion without the puppet. Point out if the child has tilted his head, drooped his shoulders or any other natural movements he has drawn upon to express the emotion. Then help him to translate these movements to the puppet. This will help the child become more aware of and comfortable with his emotions, and your puppet show will be richer and more enjoyable for everyone involved. Internet Pharmacy - An Ideal Platform For Drug Purchase

April 11th, 2008 by juleenyce

By [http://ezinearticles.com/?expert=Alfred_Anderson] Alfred Anderson Getting the prescribed medicines from a nearby community drugstore had long been the only option for us. But now, Internet pharmacies have become a far better alternative. Internet pharmacies go a long way in meeting patients demands than what the traditional pharmacies could. A good online pharmacy entitles us to a host of benefits and services that the age-old community drugstores are incapable of providing in the near future. Online pharmacies outclass the traditional ones on more than a single ground. A lot of patients suffer from ailments that they do not wish to make public. It could even be embarrassing for some to publicly buy such drugs at a community drugstore. Conversely, they can buy similar drugs through an Internet pharmacy. The ordering process is easy, secure and confidential. No need to go out of the house to queue up near a drugstore; just fill in the online order form available in the internet pharmacys website and wait for the drug to be delivered right at your doorsteps. Most of us have a busy lifestyle. We need to take some time out for activities that are not a part of our daily routine. To get the drugs from a nearby drugstore, we need to find time to go out and buy them. Furthermore, there are patients who are too weak to move out. Such patients need to depend on others help to procure drugs from the nearest store. An Internet pharmacy, on the other hand, not only save our time but also reduces the effort needed to go to a drugstore. Whether at home, office, or anywhere else, all we need is to login to an online pharmacy website and place an order. The cost of medicines is an essential point of consideration for the patients. Online pharmacies offer drugs at a far cheaper rate than that of the traditional ones. The difference in price is due to the high overhead costs incurred by the community drugstores. Conversely, an online pharmacy does not have similar magnitude of infrastructure or operational costs. Furthermore, online pharmacies operating from Canada offer attractive discounts as compared to others. This is due to the price regulations of prescription medicines by the Canadian government. Such discounts can be as high as 70%! Safety, security, confidentiality, low prices and good product quality is what drives most patients to login to an online pharmacy. However patients should be careful to check out the legitimacy of the pharmacy. Internet pharmacies have become a booming business and a lot of people try to cash in this opportunity by promising the best and offering the worst. Legal online pharmacies are authorized by an external authoritative agency. Most legitimate Internet pharmacies provide a link to such an agency in support of their authenticity. People should check out for such links. Apart from that, it is always better to stay away from pharmacies that have broken links and look badly managed. Such pharmacies, in all probability, are the ones to stay away from.
